About the event
Swim lessons are crucial in Florida and even more so for individuals with autism. At Connections, we make it a priority to provide swim lessons to all our students. The lessons are not paid for or provided by the school district, we depend on grants and donations to fund the program.
According to the Autism Society of Florida, Drowning is the #1 cause of death in autism and Florida leads the way in child drownings resulting in death. Kids with ASD are 160 times more likely to experience nonfatal and fatal drowning than their neurotypical peers.
